Photo Manipulation and Ethics

A. Photographers are editing the photos too much and consumers and customers don't know what the truth is behind photos and what is real or not.

B. You shouldn't manipulate photos too much past the point of disbelief.

C. I think you could fix very small imperfections and if the photo isn't bright enough or too bright thou could adjust the brightness.

D. I think this is the most Unethical because it changed the looks of the women to make her look more beautiful to society. I don't like this because it can leave women and men self conscious and not liking their looks.

E. I think this is least unethical because it shows exactly what was photographed just slightly condensed to fit the magazine cover. I don't think it is as bad as the previous photo because it is not false advertisement or hiding something from society.

ISO

1. A higher ISO means there camera takes the photo at perfect timing an diets great quality.
2. A lower ISO will generally result in a higher quality photo.
3. A higher ISO will capture fast motion pictures better.

Shutter Speed

High shutter speed

Slow shutter speed

1. Beginning
a. High
b. High
c. High
d. High
e. High
f. High

1. End
a. Slow
b. Slow
c. Slow
d. Slow
e. Slow
f. Slow

2. Aperture priority automatically sets shutter speed. Shutter priority where you set the shutter speed and the camera automatically sets the aperture. Manual where you set both shutter speed and aperture.

Aperture

1. The pupil
2. the smaller the aperture the higher the f stop and the larger the aperture the lower the f stop
3.With a larger aperture you will get less depth and the focus will be on your subject. With a smaller aperture you will get more depth as everything in the picture is in focus.

Academic shoot preview pt.2

In the photo I chose there is a student who is pouring some kind of substance into a beaker in what looks like a science classroom.

1. I chose this photo because the boy is doing a science experiment and it kind of creates a feeling of suspense of what is abut to happen in his experiment.

2. Balance is evident because theres beakers on each side of the image and the student is in the middle  which creates balance.

Academic Shoot Preview pt.1

Best Action or Emotion
I think this one shows good action because the girls are working on a science experiment and it exploded and they look to be excited and enjoying whats happening.

Most interesting stuff
I think this one shows most interesting stuff because the whole class has come together and doing an experiment that looks very interesting.

Best story
I think this one tells the best story because it is high school kids helping homely people which is a very selfless thing to do.

Balance

In this photo all of the high-rises create a balance of the photo and the smoke isn't too much or too distracting. The blue sky also brings out the buildings and the smoke.

Simplicity

The man standing in an empty road with few people gives the effect of simplicity. There isn't much behind him and his crisp black suit makes it clear he is the subject.

Framing

The black frame is very well used and clearly lets us see the subject, the fireman. His yellow stripes against the dull background all make it obvious he is the subject.

Lines

In this photo there is rubble and some standing building that creates diagonal lines with a simple background and it is appealing to the eye.

Merging

I see this one as a merger because the sign in the back is distracting and the flag in the mans face takes away from the subject, the man.

Rule of Thirds

I see this as rule of thirds because the man is in the top left corner in a kind of simplistic background that is nice to the eye and I am drawn to the man.

The Camera

1. The camera obscure effect is when there is a completley dark room and a small hole is created in one wall, and light is focused through the hole and the object or scene outside is projected upside down on the opposite wall. It acted like a lens focusing and projecting light onto the wall go the dark room.
2. Isaac Newton and Christian Huygens perfected the idea of optics and the process of making high quality glass lenses.
3. He added film to the camera, so the camera had a glass lens, a dark box and film.
4. Light still passes through the lens and exposes the film and we get a photograph.
5. Digital cameras use and electronic sensor called a CCD, and pictures are saved on a memory device.
6. In auto mode everything automatically happens, like flash will go off and focus on its own. In program mode you can control the flash and exposure and focus in any way you want.
7. Portrait mode will be used to attempt to blur the background. the camera will use the fastest lens setting to do this.
8. Sports mode is used to capture things in motion and uses the highest shutter speed.
9. When you half press, you focus on whatever you're aiming at. When you are doing this it will focus and when you are ready you can take the shot.
10. This symbol means there will be no flash. You can use it to create a more dramatic look with natural lighting.
11. Auto flash is used when the camera thinks the photo needs more light.
12. Too much light will wash out the photo.
13. Not enough light will make the photo too dark.
14. A stop is the amount of light that there is.
15. One stop brighter.
16. Two stops brighter.
17. A longer shutter speed means more light in the photo.
18. A shorter shutter speed means less light in the photo.
19. The aperture controls how much light gets through.
20. You can control the aperture by setting the aperture opening.
